تم وضع حجر الأساس لشركة أسمنت الرياض (الأسمنت الأبيض السعودي سابقاً) في العام 1997م، كأول مصنع لإنتاج الأسمنت الأبيض في المملكة العربية السعودية (الخط الأول) ، وبدأ إنتاجه التجاري في عام 2001م ، بطاقة بلغت 230 ألف طن من الكنكلر سنوياً والذي تم تطويره لاحقاً ليصل إنتاجه إلى 320 ألف طن سنوياً. في العام 2005م قامت الشركة بتوسيع نطاق أعمالها وذلك بإنشاء (الخط الثاني) لإنتاج الأسمنت الأسود ، وقد بدأ الإنتاج التجاري للخط الأول في عام 2007م، بطاقة إنتاجيه بلغت 1.7 مليون طن من الكلنكر الأسود سنوياً. ونظرا للنمو السريع وارتفاع الطلب على الأسمنت، أنشأت الشركة (خطها الثالث) في عام 2007م لإنتاج الأسمنت الأسود والذي بدأ انتاجه التجاري عام 2010م بطاقة إنتاجية 1.7 مليون طن سنوياً. وبذلك أصبحت الطاقة الإنتاجية الإجمالية للخطين الثاني والثالث 3.4 مليون طن من الكلنكر الأسود سنوياً . ولمواكبة النمو العمراني السريع الذي شهدته المملكة ، تواصلت أعمال تطويى مصانع الشركة في العام 2019م عبر تحويل أحد خطوط انتاج الأسمنت الأسود ليصبح خط إنتاج مزدوج للاسمنت الأبيض والأسود ، مما عزز المرونة الإنتاجية للمصانع ودعم انتاج الأسمنت الأبيض في الشركة إلى مليون طن سنوياً.
